User Tiers & Voting Power
Configure credit-based voting with tier weights
User tiers in UserVote allow you to give different customers different voting power. Enterprise customers can have more influence than free users, creating a weighted feedback system.
Understanding Tiers
Tiers determine:
Vote Weight:
- How much each vote counts
- Enterprise: 3x weight
- Pro: 2x weight
- Free: 1x weight
Credit Allocation:
- Monthly/yearly credits
- Per-product distribution
Priority:
- Idea visibility rules
- Response priority
Default Tiers
UserVote comes with default tiers:
| Tier | Weight | Credits | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | 1x | 10 | Basic users |
| Pro | 2x | 25 | Paying customers |
| Enterprise | 3x | 50 | Large accounts |
You can customize these or create new ones.

Vote Weight Snapshots
Important concept:
When a user votes, their vote weight is snapshotted:
- Weight recorded at vote time
- Tier changes don't affect past votes
- Ensures historical accuracy
Example:
- User votes as Enterprise (3x)
- Later downgraded to Free
- Original vote remains 3x
Credit Distribution
Configure how credits work:
Per-Product Credits:
- Different products can have different allocations
- e.g., Core Product: 20 credits, Beta: 5 credits
Credit Reset:
- Monthly reset on billing date
- Or manual reset by admin
Unused Credits:
- Roll over (configurable)
- Or expire each period
