Create and configure your UserVote account
Getting started with UserVote is quick and easy. This guide walks you through creating your account, verifying your email, and setting up your profile for the best experience.
Creating Your Account
Step 1: Navigate to Sign Up
Click the "Sign Up" button in the top navigation bar. You'll be taken to the registration page.
Step 2: Enter Your Information
Fill in the required fields:
- Email Address: Use a valid email you have access to
- Password: Choose a strong password (minimum 8 characters)
- Display Name: This is how others will see you in the platform
Step 3: Accept Terms
Review and accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
Step 4: Submit
Click "Create Account" to complete registration.
Email Verification
After registration, you'll receive a verification email:
What to Expect:
- Check your inbox for an email from UserVote
- Click the verification link in the email
- You'll be redirected to confirm your account is active
Didn't Receive the Email?
- Check your spam/junk folder
- Wait a few minutes and try again
- Click "Resend Verification" on the login page
- Contact support if issues persist
Why Verify?
Email verification helps us:
- Confirm you own the email address
- Send you important notifications
- Recover your account if needed
Completing Your Profile
After verification, enhance your profile:
Profile Picture
- Upload a photo or avatar
- Recommended size: 200x200 pixels
- Supported formats: JPG, PNG, GIF
Bio & Information
- Add a short bio about yourself
- Include your role or interests
- This helps the community know you
Notification Preferences
- Choose how you want to be notified
- Email, push, or in-app notifications
- Set frequency preferences
Security Settings
Keep your account secure:
Password Best Practices:
- Use at least 8 characters
- Mix uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols
- Don't reuse passwords from other sites
Session Management:
- View active sessions in Settings
- Log out from devices you don't recognize
- Sessions expire after 30 days of inactivity
Account Recovery:
- Keep your email address up to date
- Use "Forgot Password" if locked out
- Contact support for additional help
Account Types
UserVote has different user types:
| Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Customer | Standard user who can vote and submit ideas |
| Employee | Team member with access to admin features |
| Admin | Full administrative access |
Your account type is assigned by your organization. Contact your administrator if you need different access.
