Update and improve your submitted ideas
After submitting an idea, you may want to make changes based on feedback, clarify details, or add more information. This guide explains how to edit your ideas and what limitations apply.
When You Can Edit
Editing Window
You can edit your ideas under certain conditions:
Time Limit:
- Ideas can be edited within 24 hours of submission
- After 24 hours, major edits are restricted
- Minor clarifications may still be allowed
Status Matters:

How to Edit Your Idea
Step 1: Find Your Idea
- Go to your Profile → My Ideas
- Or navigate to the idea directly
Step 2: Open Edit Mode
- Click the "Edit" button (pencil icon)
- If you don't see it, editing may be locked
Step 3: Make Your Changes
Editable fields:
- Title: Update for clarity
- Description: Add details, fix typos
- Category: Change if miscategorized
Step 4: Save
- Click "Save Changes"
- Your edits are immediately visible
- Edit history is tracked
What You Can Change
Always Editable (within time limit):
✓ Fix typos and grammar
✓ Add more details
✓ Clarify your use case
✓ Add examples or scenarios
✓ Update category
Restricted Changes:
⚠ Major scope changes
⚠ Completely different features
⚠ Changing the core request
Not Allowed:
✗ Changing to a completely different idea
✗ Removing the original request
✗ Adding unrelated features
Why These Rules?
People voted for your original idea. Changing it fundamentally would be unfair to voters.
Edit History
Transparency is Important
All edits are tracked:
- Original submission preserved
- Edit timestamps recorded
- Changes visible to moderators
Viewing Edit History:
- Some ideas show "Edited" badge
- Click to see when it was edited
- Major changes may show changelog
Best Practices:
- Make edits early (before many votes)
- Note significant changes in comments
- Be transparent about updates
Can't Edit? Alternatives
If you can't edit your idea:
Add a Comment
- Clarify details in the comments
- Respond to questions
- Provide updates
Create a New Idea
If your idea has significantly evolved:
- Submit a new, better idea
- Link to the original in description
- Ask voters to support the new version
Request Moderator Help
- Contact the product team
- Explain the needed change
- They may be able to assist
Merge with Another Idea
- If a better version exists
- Vote for the better idea
- Request merge from moderators

Scenario 1: Typo Fix
✓ Edit immediately to fix typos
✓ No explanation needed
Scenario 2: Adding Details
✓ Edit to add more context
✓ Consider adding a comment explaining the addition
Scenario 3: Responding to Feedback
✓ Update based on comments
✓ Thank commenters in the discussion
Scenario 4: Scope Creep
✗ Don't add unrelated features
→ Create separate ideas instead
