UserVote relies on community members to help identify inappropriate content. If you encounter a comment that violates community guidelines, you can report it for review by moderators.

When to Report

Report comments that contain:

Spam or Advertising

  • Promotional content
  • Irrelevant links
  • Repetitive posting

Harassment or Abuse

  • Personal attacks
  • Bullying behavior
  • Threatening language

Hate Speech

  • Discrimination
  • Offensive slurs
  • Targeting groups

Inappropriate Content

  • Explicit material
  • Violent content
  • Illegal activities

Misinformation

  • Deliberately false claims
  • Misleading statements

Do NOT Report:

  • Disagreements (that's okay!)
  • Constructive criticism
  • Opinions you don't share

How to Report a Comment

Step-by-Step Process:

Step 1: Find the Report Option

  • Look for the "..." or menu icon on the comment
  • May also appear as a flag icon
  • Located near the comment actions

Step 2: Click Report

  • Select "Report Comment" or "Flag"
  • A report dialog will appear

Step 3: Select a Reason

Choose the most appropriate category:

  • Spam
  • Harassment
  • Hate speech
  • Inappropriate content
  • Other

Step 4: Add Details (Optional)

  • Provide additional context
  • Explain why this is problematic
  • Be specific but concise

Step 5: Submit

  • Click "Submit Report"
  • Your report is sent to moderators

What Happens After Reporting

The Review Process:

A team member reviews the comment and context

Moderators decide on appropriate action

Report Anonymity

Is My Report Anonymous?

To the Commenter:

  • Yes, the commenter does NOT see who reported
  • Your identity is protected

To Moderators:

  • Moderators can see who reported
  • This helps investigate abuse
  • Your reports are confidential

Retaliation Protection:

  • Retaliation is not allowed
  • Report any retaliation immediately
  • Moderators take this seriously

False Reports

Filing false or malicious reports may result in:

  • Temporary reporting suspension
  • Account restrictions
