Searching & Filtering Ideas

Using the Search Bar

The search bar is your fastest way to find ideas:

Location:

• Top of the ideas list
• Available on every product page
• Also in the global header

How to Search:

1. Click the search bar (or press Ctrl/Cmd + K)
2. Type your keywords
3. Results appear as you type
4. Click on an idea to view it

Search Tips:

• Use specific keywords
• Try product features or problem words
• Search for author names
• Use quotation marks for exact phrases

Status Filters

Filter ideas by their current status:

How to Filter:

1. Find the status filter (sidebar or dropdown)
2. Click to select one or more statuses
3. Ideas list updates immediately
4. Clear filters to see all ideas

Common Filter Combinations:

• "Under Review + Planned" → Ideas being considered
• "New" → Fresh ideas to vote on
• "Completed" → See what's been shipped

Available Sort Orders:

How to Sort:

1. Find the sort dropdown
2. Select your preferred order
3. List reorders immediately

Pro Tips:

• "Trending" finds actively discussed ideas
• "Recently Updated" shows what's happening
• "Most Votes" shows community priorities

Category Filter

If products have categories:

• Select one or more categories
• Filter down to specific areas
• Great for focused browsing

Date Range

Filter by submission date:

• Last 7 days
• Last 30 days
• Last year
• Custom range

Author

Find ideas by specific users:

• Your own ideas
• Ideas from team members
• Specific contributors

Combining Filters:

You can combine multiple filters:

• Status: "Planned" + Category: "Mobile" + Sort: "Most Votes"
• Find top-voted planned mobile ideas!

Save Your Favorite Filters

Some platforms support saved searches:

Creating a Saved Search:

1. Set up your filters
2. Click "Save Search" or bookmark icon
3. Name your search
4. Access it later from your profile

Use Cases:

• Track "New ideas in my category"
• Monitor "Top voted this month"
• Follow "Ideas I commented on"

Note: Saved searches may vary by organization settings.

Finding Duplicate Ideas:

Before submitting, search thoroughly:

• Try different phrasings
• Search for the problem, not just solution
• Check multiple categories

Discovering Popular Ideas:

• Sort by "Most Votes"
• Filter to "Under Review" or "New"
• Look for ideas to support

Tracking Ideas You Care About:

• Use search to find relevant ideas
• Vote and comment on them
• Follow the ideas for updates
